Access Information
- Road Access: From Glenshane Pass near Dungiven, turn onto Boviel Road and continue uphill toward the site. Pass through the site owner’s housing area slowly, adhering to a maximum speed of 5 mph. Continue to the road’s end.
- Parking: At the end of the road, turn around and park tightly on the left side, ensuring that the road, gate, and turning area are not obstructed.

- Path to Launch: Walk to the launch near the old wooden wind vane mast. Use the stile to access the area.
Site Rules and Hazards
- Speed Limit: Adhere strictly to a 5 mph speed limit when driving through the housing area to respect the site owner’s property.
- Hazards:
- Be mindful of the old mast near both the launch and landing areas.
- Pilots have reported turbulent air, particularly during strong south winds, and may choose to land early if conditions are unsuitable.
Launch and Landing Zones
- Launch: The main launch area is situated above the road, near the old mast. Access should be via the stile.
- Bottom Landing Zone:
- Located a quarter mile to the northwest (right) of the launch, alongside the access road.
- The landing area runs lengthwise into the wind. Make careful approaches to avoid the barbed wire perimeter fence and hedge, and ensure you do not overshoot. Use the gate to exit.
- Top Landing Zone:
- The ground behind the launch is generally suitable for top landings. However, it is often wet and uneven with peat banks, so approach with caution.
